Dr. Vivekanandhan VijayaRangan is an Associate Professor and Dean-R&D in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering – Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning (CSE–AIML) at Malla Reddy College of Engineering, Secunderabad, with over 14 years of academic and research experience. He holds a Ph.D. in Information and Communication Engineering from Anna University, Chennai. His research interests include Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN), Computational Complexity, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, and Convolutional Neural Networks. He has a strong background in Web Technologies, Java, and Python Programming, and has taught numerous courses in these domains. He has published extensively in reputed SCI, Scopus, and WoS indexed journals(17) and conferences(25), authored four books, and holds four patents. He has guided over 200 B.E. and M.E. projects and actively contributed to innovation activities, institutional website management, seminar and workshop organization, R&D activities, and accreditation processes. He has also mentored teams for the Smart India Hackathon and received multiple recognitions, including Best Researcher Awards from Samarkand University, Uzbekistan, and Manipal University, Malaysia (2025). He is a Life Member of the Institution of Engineers (India), a Life Member of International Association of Engineers (IAENG).

RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT CELL

The Research & Development Cell (R&D Cell) strives to bridge the gap between emerging technological trends and the research capabilities of faculty and students. The Cell focuses on strengthening research culture by establishing strong linkages with industries, research laboratories, and reputed academic organizations. Through continuous support and professional training in advanced technology domains, the R&D Cell encourages innovative thinking and guides students and faculty toward high-quality research outcomes. It also promotes applied research that addresses real-time industrial and societal challenges, enabling researchers to contribute practical solutions and breakthrough innovations. Ultimately, the R&D Cell is dedicated to enhancing research productivity, securing funded projects, fostering patentable innovations, and developing competent researchers capable of meeting global standards.

R&D CELL OBJECTIVES
  • Promote research, innovation, and dissemination of technical advancements through collaborative educational and training initiatives.
  • Establish MoUs and partnerships with industries for joint R&D projects and knowledge exchange.
  • Organize seminars, workshops, exhibitions, and project evaluations in collaboration with industry experts.
  • Provide technical consultancy, training, and support to industries, including small-scale and rural enterprises.
  • Facilitate industry participation in curriculum development and guide high-quality student research projects.
  • To offer research, development, consultancy and testing services to solve industrial problems and socio economic problems prevailing in rural people.
  • Prepare students to be industry-ready by fostering research culture, practical skills, and professional competencies.
R&D CELL ACTIVITIES
  • Identify industrial challenges and undertake research projects, including funded and collaborative initiatives.
  • Promote joint R&D programs with industries, actively involving students and faculty.
  • Conduct on-campus and off-campus research under expert guidance to foster innovation and problem-solving.
  • Organize seminars, workshops, conferences, and brainstorming sessions for research dissemination and knowledge exchange.
  • Provide technical consultancy services and execute industry-oriented projects to address real-world challenges.
  • Develop research infrastructure and facilitate student participation in internships, industry projects, and skill-enhancement programs.
  • One of the key indicators of an institution’s research performance is its ability to secure funding from reputed Government and Autonomous agencies to support high-quality research initiatives. The institute has successfully obtained several research projects sponsored by recognized bodies such as AICTE and DST, reflecting its strong research culture and capability.
  • The institution has also established a dedicated Dynamic Research & Development Cell, which actively facilitates, promotes, and continuously monitors research activities across all departments, ensuring sustained growth in innovation and scholarly contributions.
